Summer Instructor - Upward Bound

The University of Pikeville (UPIKE), the Leading University in Central Appalachia is actively seeking Summer Instructors for its Upward Bound Program for the summer. The position of Summer Instructor is a temporary position, which is dependent on continued federal grant funding.

Each Summer Instructor will be expected to design, instruct, and document participant development and attendance in class. Selected candidates must commit to the projects, policies, including absolutely no dating of participants, confidentiality, proper referral procedures, and possess the ability to exemplify and demonstrate professional etiquette and demeanor.

Successful candidates will have a baccalaureate degree with secondary certification or a specialty certification in the area for which they are applying. Successful candidates must demonstrate experiences that will allow them to identify with the barriers and disadvantages of target area participants. Selected candidates will demonstrate exceptional motivation and commitment toward supplementing participant’s academic experience. Successful candidates will demonstrate behavior suitable for a role model, academic strength useful to the participants and the desire and abilities for a mentoring relationship.
