Graduate Assistant - Women's Basketball

The University of Pikeville (UPIKE) is actively seeking candidates for a Graduate Assistant for Women’s Basketball. UPIKE is an NAIA School that competes in the Mid-South Conference. The central focus for the Graduate Assistant is to provide assistance and support to the Women’s Basketball program at the University of Pikeville.

 Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in individual and small group skill development workouts.
  2. Assist in strength training, agility, and conditioning workouts.
  3. Assist in the recruitment process of student athletes.
  4. Participate in coaches’ meetings for practice prep and game planning.
  5. Assist in practices and games for the women’s basketball team.
  6. Assist with personnel scouting in order to game plan, watching and analyzing game film. 
  7. Assist with camps including marketing, organization, and operations.
  8. Other duties as assigned

Relationships:

  • Reports to Head Coach and Associate Head Coach
    • All completed work is referred to supervisor for review
  • Interact with student athletes, team managers, athletic department staff, and university faculty/staff. 

Education/Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Athletic background preferred.
  • At least 1-2 years of assistant coaching experience.
  • Must be familiar with conducting research online.
  • Must be familiar Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must have experience working with office equipment, e.g. computer, printer, fax machine.
  • Must be able to perform simple calculations.
  • Must have a clean driving record.

**Graduate Assistants receive tuition waivers of up to 6 hours of classes per semester, housing & a meal plan. However, if the GA does not reside on campus, then he/she will receive a monthly stipend in lieu of room & board. The meal plan covers the actual number of weeks that classes are in session during the fall, spring, and summer semesters.
