FWS - KYCO, Contact Lens Assistant - 21-22

Responsibilities: 1. Inventory supplies and create list for restock 2. Inventory contact lens fitting sets, scan for reorder, place orders as needed for lab 3. Maintain google document of student data and assist with processing for CL orders for the lab 4. Create and maintain supply kits for use in lab 5. Check in lenses and label them 6. Keep track of lenses and supplies ordered 7. Assist with ancillary testing as needed 8. Clean, disinfect, inspect and maintain contact lenses 9. Sort and assign students to lanes for workshops and labs using excel or google sheets. 10. Interact with workshop/vendor organizer in preparation for special events.

Preferred Skills: • Computer knowledge, i.e. Word, Excel & Google sign ups and sheets • Attention to detail • Willingness to learn new things.

Work Schedule: The priority work schedule is our open hours and during special events. Work hours can be flexible to accommodate the students' class schedule: • Wednesday: 9:00am - 12:00pm

Work Conditions: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job: • Normal office environment Physical demands included here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job: • Keyboarding • Pulling up to 30 lbs. • Lifting up to 10 lbs. • Carrying up to 10 lbs.

Additional Comments: It is preferred that work study be available for at least a portion of specialty lens clinic (Wednesdays). Supply boxes must be ready for lab by the evening before lab. Time may be flexible to accomplish this. After lab, supply boxes and lenses will need reorganization, verification and cleaning. There may be opportunities to assist with associated research and optometric testing as well as workshops. This position would be of greatest interest to an optometry or pre-optometry students.
