FWS – Center for Student Engagement, Campus Activities Board, Student Event Leader

This job will require the supervision of events, students attending events, equipment owned by the University, and aiding in general operations. The Campus Activities Board meets weekly as a collective group and operates independently to complete tasks. This position is supervised by the Director of Student Activities and Assistant Director of Student Activities. The Campus Activities Board must be able to follow directions and perform the duties assigned in a friendly and firm manner while communicating with the supervisors if assistance is needed.

 

Responsibilities: 1. Manage day-to-day operations of the Campus Activities Board. a. Making phone calls to artists and agents, updating budgets, updating social media content, add events on Presence, and do general research and surveys that engages the student. 2. Attend all CAB meetings to develop and coordinate all event plans. a. Weekly meeting that lasts approximately 1.5 hours. b. Minimum of 3 hours working in the office. 3. Assistant in distributing marketing materials throughout campus and the community. 4. Report problems with equipment in a prompt manner. 5. Apply first aid as needed. 6. Track attendance and calendars for event planning. 7. Attend events and assist with the technical production. 8. Recruit members to Campus Activities Board  9. Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications: • A background or general knowledge of the University of Pikeville, Campus Life, and Clubs and Organizations. • Able to communicate efficiently and in a timely manner. • Able to problem solve, identify problems, and come up with solutions. • Have an understanding and ability to balance multiple projects with maintaining academic standards. •. • Preferred to have a current CPR and First Aid Certification; certification available through UPIKE at no cost to the workers.

 

Preferred Skills: • Computer knowledge, i.e. Word, Excel, Social Media & New Technology. • Attention to detail. • Strong active listening abilities. • Written & verbal communication. • Customer focused. • Willingness to learn new things.

 

Work Schedule: The priority work schedule is our open hours and during special events. Work hours can be flexible to accommodate the students' class schedule: • Sunday: Closed • Monday-Saturday: Varies depending on workload

Additional Comments: Hours will be based on student's availability. This job is limited to those elected into office, with possibility of new positions (i.e. Officers) being created at any time deemed appropriate & necessary.
