FWS - Community - SOAR, Graphic Design Intern - 21-22

The University of Pikeville (UPIKE), the Leading University in Central Appalachia is actively seeking a Graphic Design Intern with SOAR, our non-profit community partner organization of Shaping Our Appalachian Region, for their Communication/Digital Media department.

Responsibilities:

  1. Work in collaboration with the Digital Media Coordinator and Graphic Design Contractor to create graphics, infographics, and other visual elements as assigned and received through SOAR’s work order system. Elements will be created for a variety of platforms.
  2. Adhere to SOAR Branding Guide to ensure all graphics present an element of consistency.

Preferred Skills:

  • Computer knowledge, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Social Media and New Technology, and Adobe Suite.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong active listening abilities.
  • Written and verbal communication.
  • Customer focused.
  • Willingness to learn new things.

Work Schedule:

The priority work schedule will vary depending on student availability.  

  • Sunday & Saturday: no hours
  • Monday – Friday: varies depending on workload

This position does not require obtaining an academic internship from UPIKE.

If you are interested in also obtaining UPIKE internship course credit in addition to the hourly pay, you must contact your UPIKE Academic Advisor prior to the beginning of an academic semester and follow the required procedures from the Registrar's Office.  SOAR does not grant nor award UPIKE academic credit, only an UPIKE academic department faculty member can.

Additional Comments: SOAR (Shaping Our Appalachian Region) office is located a short walk away on Main Street in downtown Pikeville at 137 Main Street, Suite #300. The office is open 8:30 am – 4:30 pm M-F, student can choose schedule that best works for them if they choose to work onsite.
