Coordinator of Student Experiences

The University of Pikeville is seeking applications for the full time position of Coordinator of Student Experiences. This position is responsible for assisting Family and New Student Connections in collaborating with Admissions and the Division of Student Success to create a seamless transition from status as an admitted student to a First Year to a Second Year UPIKE student. The coordinator will work in direct collaboration with the Division of Student Success to create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment for all students at the University of Pikeville. 

Responsibilities: 

  1. Assists with planning, organizing, and hosting a variety of events and programming for families and students including, but not limited to, GROWL, UPIKE FIRST Week, Family Weekend, and the UPIKE Family Road Show.
  2. Assists with the management of annual communication and social media plans for Family Connections, First Year Experience, and Second Year Experience.
  3. Leads family data management efforts to ensure accurate information is in The UPIKE Family Experience communication portal and UPIKE’s database by: 
    1. Sharing reports with Advancement to ensure family contact information is included in Ellucian.
    2. Including names of prospective families provided by Admissions in The UPIKE Family Experience communication portal.
    3. Collecting and sharing data with Institutional Research as needed.
  4. Serves as an instructor of FS 102 (First-Year Seminar) each academic semester.
  5. Assists with hiring, training, and mentoring UPIKE FIRST orientation leaders.
  6. Participates in campus-wide committees as related to student experience programs.
  7. Trains and oversees work study students.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.

Relationships:

Position requires daily contact with co-workers, supervisor, students, faculty, and staff in order to effectively coordinate student experience programs. These relationships are maintained through e-mail, fax, telephone, and person-to-person contact.

Education/Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Must be student oriented and have a compassionate nature with the ability to be empathetic to student needs.
  • One year of experience in a student services role is preferred.
  • Experience with helping at-risk students in a university environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with student service factors in higher education.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, collaborative environment.
  • Ability to creatively solve student issues in a timely manner.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and a clear driving record with the ability to drive a 12-passenger van as permitted by the university.
