Human Resources Coordinator

The University of Pikeville (UPIKE), is actively seeking candidates for a Human Resources Coordinator who is responsible for general administrative support of day-to-day HR operations.

Responsibilities:

  1. Serve as primary back-up for payroll processes.
  2. Assists with HR projects.
  3. Assists with new employee orientation and background checks.
  4. Assists with benefits administration.
  5. Assists in monthly reconciliation of department credit cards.
  6. Answers phones for the HR department.
  7. Performs HRIS data entry and personnel file maintenance.
  8. Assists employees and supervisors with basic interpretation of HR policies and procedures.
  9. Maintains confidential personnel files and personnel actions.
  10. Conducts/responds to reference checks and verifications of employment.
  11. Completes new hire forms, including I-9, verifies I-9 documentation, and maintains I-9 files.
  12. Conducts driver’s license checks and manages the Driver Training program.
  13. Other duties as assigned.

Relationships:

Position requires daily contact with co-workers, supervisor, employees of the institution, as well as vendors in order to answer questions, obtain quotes, and ensure paperwork is completed. These relationships are maintained through e-mail, fax, telephone, and person-to-person contact. 

Education/Skill Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree is required; Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Experience may be substituted for the education.
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), Professional in Human Resources (PHR), is preferred.
  • Previous experience in HR is preferred.
