IWS - First Year Experience - UPIKE FIRST Week Student Ambassadors - Aug 11-23 only

The Student Ambassador position exists within First Year Experience (UPIKE FIRST). Student Ambassadors will play a vital role in joining First-Year Seminar instructors to facilitate the transition of new students throughout their first semester on campus by providing information about university programs and services. Through a variety of experiences and opportunities, Student Ambassadors have the power to make a positive and lasting difference in the UPIKE community and develop great leadership and résumé-building skills in the process.

 Student Ambassador Responsibilities

  • Welcome new students to campus during UPIKE FIRST Week
  • Promote interaction among groups of new students 
  • Work alongside First-Year Seminar Instructors, UPIKE First team, and Student Success staff to support students through their initial transition to campus
  • Facilitate activities to help students develop social connections
  • Communicate with students 
  • Perform assigned logistical tasks related to first-year initiatives and events
  • Assist in the preparation and execution of UPIKE FIRST activities 
  • Participate in team meetings and trainings
  • Uphold and enforce all aspects of the university code of conduct and address inappropriate behavior among students in attendance at programs
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Be a positive, enthusiastic, school spirited and motivated student
  • Earn a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA
  • Have completed FS 102
  • Be enrolled as a full-time student for Fall 2022 
  • Behavior/Conduct records in UPIKE Housing and the Student Conduct Office will be checked when making hiring decisions. These records may or may not affect the final hiring decision.
  • Campus knowledge and connections with staff and faculty
  • Teamwork and interpersonal communication
  • Effective communication and positive customer service

Preferred Skills: • Computer knowledge,  Social Media,& New Technology • Attention to detail. • Written & verbal communication. • Customer focused * Strong Active Listening skills * Willingness to learn new things * public speaking .

Work Schedule: Varies according to First Week schedule

Number of Positions: 5

Work hours a week:  40 hours a week during August  11-23 only.

Pay Rate:  8.25
