FWS - Community - Local Elementary School, Tutor - 22-23

Responsibilities: 1. Provide one on one reading assistance to identified students. 2. Provide small group reading assistance to identified students. 3. Work with faculty to  get trained for tutoring. 4. Engage with student to evaluate progress.

Work Schedule: The priority work schedule is our open hours.

Work hours can be flexible to accommodate the students' class schedule: • Saturday & Sunday: No hours • Monday - Friday: Varies depending on workload

Physical demands included here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job: • Keyboarding • Stooping/kneeling

Additional Comments: Tutors must be able to maintain confidentiality.  Paid training will be provided. Tutoring  would require assisting elementary school aged students, who have been identified by faculty, in areas of reading. The  individual should possess excellent verbal communication skills to explain topics to the elementary school age student. In addition, the work study individual might assist with reading homework, instruct on reading fundamentals (with training). The work study individual would also assist with the development of reading habits, reinforce reading skills, and work to increase reading comprehension skills.

Location:  Elementary schools near UPIKE.  Some positions may be walkable.  When applying/interviewing let us know if you have transportation
