Senior Recruiter: Medical Admissions

The University of Pikeville is actively seeking a dynamic and committed professional to serve in the role of Medical Admissions Recruiter. This position is highly integral to the continued growth and vibrancy of the institution and will recruit for Osteopathic Medical, and Optometry students. This position reports to the Director of Medical Admissions. The ideal candidate will possess positive energy, exceptional communication skills, creativity, and enthusiasm for recruiting highly qualified prospective students. This position will manage recruitment territories outside of the state of Kentucky. This position helps meet enrollment goals regarding applications, acceptances, and enrolled students. 

Responsibilities:

  1. Communicate consistently and effectively with prospective students and their families in person and via phone, email, text messaging, printed media, and the internet.
  2. Assist with developing recruitment plans and processes to reach enrollment goals and improve the academic profile of KYCO and KYCOM’s entering classes.
  3. Develop long lasting and strong professional relationships with pre-health advisors throughout the nation utilizing email, phone and in person communication.
  4. Work aggressively to increase public awareness of the University of Pikeville.
  5. Assist with the proper and timely acknowledgement of inquiries via phone, email and mail while providing accurate and up to date information.
  6. Learn, develop and implement recruitment strategies and best practices designed to enroll highly qualified new students.
  7. Assist with campus tours for both KYCO and KYCOM.
  8. Assist with KYCO and KYCOM interview days as travel permits.
  9. Represent the University and give presentations at a variety of educational fairs and institutions nationally. This will include in-person and remote presentation.
  10. Assist with creating and updating promotional materials and social media.
  11. National travel required with overnight stays. Applicants may expect up to 50% travel or more for this position.
  12. Assist with High School visits with guidance counselors as time permits to promote OSP and OMSP.
  13. Assists in managing Optom-Camp and PEPP summer programs.
  14. Meet quantitative and qualitative departmental goals for applications, admitted and enrolled students.
  15. Prepare admissions and recruiting reports.
  16. Help oversee application progressions through our application processing systems while observing and complying with all FERPA laws.
  17. Develop a thorough understanding of all AACOMAS, OptomCAS and AMP functions.
  18. Assist with KYCO and KYCOM Admissions related social media.
  19. Assists Director of Medical Admissions and Recruitment and Assistant Director with review of candidates for interview selection.
  20. Ensure smooth and efficient offering of events and programs, including managing registration and check-in for programs, maintaining rosters of attendees, arranging catering, etc.
  21. Uphold the University of Pikeville mission statement.
  22. Work collaboratively with colleagues in financial aid, advising, registrar and other campus offices to ensure a consistent and smooth transition from applicant to student.
  23. Interact effectively with a diverse group of faculty, staff, administrators and the University community at large.
  24. Perform all job duties within given realistic budget and time constraints.
  25. Perform other duties as assigned.

Relationships:

Position requires daily contact with co-workers, supervisor, external vendors, students, faculty, and staff in order to disseminate necessary information and coordinate for daily phone, e-mail, and fax.

Education/Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in related field. Master’s degree in relevant field preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience in competitive sales, public relations, recruitment, admissions or closely related field.
  • Must have strong organizational, communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills with sensitivity to cultural, socioeconomic and regional differences.
  • Must have polished presentation/public speaking skills and professional appearance and experience presenting to both small/personal and large/diverse groups of people.
  • Must have experience working with office equipment and technology and proficient with Microsoft office programs. Must have ability and desire to quickly learn new customer relationship management software.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to be certified to drive a University or rental vehicle for recruitment travel.
