Helpdesk Customer Support Technician

The University of Pikeville is seeking a Helpdesk Customer Support Technician to provide support to the Information and Technology Services department and the students, faculty, and staff of the University of Pikeville.

Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain equipment in classrooms campus-wide.
  2. Assist student body with utilizing provided IT resources.
  3. Deploy, implement, and maintain endpoint devices for faculty, staff, and students.
  4. Review patch management reports and remediate any discrepancies found.
  5. Review endpoint security reports and ensure endpoints are up to date with anti-malware definitions. Remediate any discrepancies found.
  6. Assist with development and maintenance of departmental knowledge base.
  7. Assist in maintaining campus equipment inventory.
  8. Responsible for working a helpdesk ticket queue. Respond, effectively communicate, and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  9. Work with third party vendors to resolve issues with campus owned assets managed by the IT Department.
  10. Ability to work independently and function in a team environment.
  11. Other duties as assigned.

Relationships:

Position requires daily contact with co-workers, student workers, supervisor, staff, faculty, students, and the public in order to exchange information and generate work flow. These relationships are maintained through e-mail, telephone, and person-to-person contact.

Education/Skill Requirements:

  • Associate degree in Computer Science or related field, or higher.
  • Must have experience working with office equipment, e.g. computer, printer, and other computer peripherals.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Must be able to perform simple calculations.
  • Must be familiar with conducting research on the Web.
  • Must have experience with computer maintenance.
