IWS - Biology, Disability Resources Student Visual Aide Assistant - Spring-23

Dr. French is seeking a student worker who has biology class and lab experience to assist a student with visual accommodation in the classroom and lab.  Good oral communication skills needed along with the ability to work one on one.  This student must have a pleasant attitude, good customer service skills, be eager to assist the student in their accommodation, and be punctual.  This position is open and ideal for anyone having taken a basic biology and lab class who had a B or better in the course.  

Required:  need to have the 8:00-9:50 time block free every MWF need to have the 8:00-9:50 time block free every MWF

Primary Responsibilities: Each student employee will:  

    • Work with student one on one in biology classroom and lab to accommodate visual challenge.  Able to verbally describe pie charts, graphs to assist students in biology class and lab
    • Demonstrates basic skill in biology and biology lab.
    • Able to work with student with visual impairment.
    • May assist with enlarging print material.
    • Must be available during lab and/or class of student biology class and lab.

Work Schedule: need to have the 8:00-9:50 time block free every MWF; no work Saturday or Sunday

Relationships:  Employees in this position will interact and/or communicate with faculty and students

Conditions:  Workplace conditions may include work in:  Student will perform majority of tasks in a typical classroom setting

Physical Demands:  Physical demands to do the job may require keyboarding, Reaching/Handling, 

Pay Rate:  $9.25/hr
