Graduate Assistant - Advancement Office

The University of Pikeville (UPIKE) is actively seeking a Graduate Assistant for the Office of Advancement and Alumni Relations. The Graduate Assistant will provide direct support for the Office of Advancement and Alumni Relations by performing the following responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide high-quality administrative support and assist with fundraising, alumni engagement and donor relations efforts.
  2. Assist with the creation of fundraising appeals and other collateral to support giving campaigns.
  3. Interact (face-to-face, phone and electronically) with alumni, donors, prospective donors, students and UPIKE leadership to support fundraising, alumni engagement and stewardship efforts.
  4. Assist with alumni events, fundraising events, stewardship events, Alumni Board meetings and Advancement staff meetings as required.
  5. Help manage digital communication to drive alumni/donor engagement and support fundraising activities.
  6. Assist with data integrity by accurately updating records and linking contact information for constituent database.
  7. Enhance donor relations by engaging students and campus leadership to thank and recognize donors according to Advancement stewardship guidelines.
  8. Learn fundraising best practices according to CASE (Council for Advancement and Support of Education) standards as well as IRS guidelines that govern contributions.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned and exhibit willingness to learn new skills.

Requirements:

  • Must have a minimum of Bachelor’s degree and be accepted into graduate program at UPIKE.
  • Must have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Must possess excellent writing skills, ability to conduct research, critical thinking skills, high degree of attention to details, and be self-directed.
  • Must have experience working with office equipment (computer, copier, printer, scanner, phone) and be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Must be dependable, interact as a functioning member of the Advancement team and maintain strict confidentiality of donor information.

**Graduate Assistants receive tuition waivers of up to 6 hours of classes per semester, housing & a meal plan. However, if the GA does not reside on campus, then he/she will receive a monthly stipend in lieu of room & board. The meal plan covers the actual number of weeks that classes are in session during the fall, spring, and summer semesters.
