Coordinator of MSW Field Education

The University of Pikeville is seeking applications for the position of Coordinator of MSW Field Education, a 12-month appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.  The successful applicant will coordinate and oversee the field education activities for a new online MSW program set to begin in August 2020.  The position reports directly to the Director of the MSW program and includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:  

 Responsibilities:

  • Serving as field liaison between the university and the field agencies
    • Develop and implement field education curriculum.
    • Interact and consult with other social work programs regarding local, regional, and national field education policies and regulations.
    • Vetting and selecting agencies locally and nationally to provide quality learning experiences.
    • Recruit, develop, orient, and provide ongoing support to field instructors and field agencies.
    • Supervise field faculty liaisons.
    • Use the field education software, Tevera, to manage the field education process and all related documents.
    • Supervise field faculty liaisons.
    • Maintain a student/agency placement database, field manual, field education course syllabi, and field forms and procedures.
    • Collaborate with Chairperson of Social Work and MSW program director on accreditation self-study and preparation for site visits as they relate to field education.
    • Providing intervention and support to students, field instructors, and faculty when problems or issues critical to field education arise.
  • Work collaboratively with Chairperson of Social Work and MSW program director to develop and implement evaluation and assessment related to student and program outcomes.  
  • Representing MSW field education on the Social Work Committee and in admission decisions.
  • Write annual field education reports.
  • Maintain compliance with field and program competencies, policies, and procedures, as well as the CSWE accreditation standards for field education.
  • Faculty responsibilities include teaching at least 12 credit hours per academic year in the MSW program, advising, scholarship, and participating in university and program governance.  

Relationships:

Position requires daily contact with co-workers, supervisor, students, faculty, and staff in order to disseminate necessary information and coordinate for daily operations. These relationships are maintained through person-to-person contact, phone, e-mail, and fax. 

Required Qualifications:

  • An MSW from a CSWE accredited social work program (PhD or DSW preferred).
  • A minimum of two years post MSW practice experience.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in social work field education and field experience in a CSWE accredited program, with at least one year served as field coordinator or director.
  • Knowledge of CSWE Accreditation Standards related to field education and a record of successful compliance.
  • Must demonstrate a record of highly successful teaching (preferably including online and hybrid teaching), as well as scholarship, and university service.
  • Documented ability to develop courses (preferably online) and coordinate new programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize technology to manage field education records.
  • Demonstrated congruence with the University of Pikeville mission.
