Graduate Assistant - Baseball

The University of Pikeville (UPIKE), the Leading University in Central Appalachia, is actively seeking candidates for a Graduate Assistant Coach for our Baseball program to assist the Head Coach and baseball staff with the overall operations of the Men’s Baseball program (Academic Emphasis), in accordance with University of Pikeville, Mid-South Conference and NAIA regulations. The Graduate Assistant must have a commitment to the philosophy of providing a competitive NAIA Division I baseball program that emphasizes integrity and the educational welfare of its student-athletes. 

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist with day to day operation, general office duties.
  2. Plan/design/coordinate/assist with programs and services related to tutoring/supplemental instruction/enrichment/grouping.
  3. Mentoring student-athletes, academic advisement of student-athletes.
  4. Monitoring the academic progress of student-athletes.
  5. Supervising and organizing study hall.
  6. Work in coordination with student success/registrar/faculty athletics representative.
  7. Develop an understanding of NAIA rules and regulations related to eligibility.
  8. Assist with unofficial eligibility evaluations of student-athletes.
  9. Conducting recruiting visits.
  10. Oversee managers/work study students.
  11. Serve as a positive role model for student-athletes.
  12. Assist in fund raising, travel-accommodations and arranging team meals.
  13. Insure health and safety.
  14. Emphasize integrity and educational welfare of student-athletes.
  15. Assist and run summer camps and community service.
  16. Comply with all UPIKE, MSC and NAIA rules and regulations.

Requirements:

  • Must have a minimum of Bachelor’s degree and be accepted into a graduate program at UPIKE.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate with all members of the University community.
  • Must have experience working with office equipment: Computer, Printer, Fax Machine, Copier, and Social Media.
  • Must be familiar in Microsoft Office, particularly with Word and Excel.
  • Must be able to perform simple calculations and simple budget responsibilities.

**Graduate Assistants receive tuition waivers of up to 6 hours of classes per semester, housing & a meal plan. However, if the GA does not reside on campus, then he/she will receive a monthly stipend in lieu of room & board. The meal plan covers the actual number of weeks that classes are in session during the fall, spring, and summer semesters.
