Assistant Volleyball Coach

The University of Pikeville (UPIKE),is actively seeking candidates for an Assistant Coach of Volleyball. The central focus for this position is to assist the Women’s Volleyball program with the overall operations of the program, in accordance with the University of Pikeville, Mid-South Conference and NAIA regulations. The Assistant Coach must have a commitment to the philosophy of providing a competitive NAIA Division I volleyball program that emphasizes integrity and the educational welfare of its student-athletes.

Responsibilities:

  1. Arrange travel and accommodations as well as team meals.
  2. Oversee eligibility certification and financial aid.
  3. Complete financial aid paperwork and documentation.
  4. Monitor student-athlete academic performance.
  5. Oversee study table and work study students.
  6. Organize team building and community service projects.
  7. Assist with fundraising for the team’s budget and facilities. 
  8. Emphasize integrity and educational welfare of student athletes.
  9. Insure health and safety of all student athletes.
  10. Assist and direct summer camps.
  11. Assist in recruitment and scouting of student athletes. 
  12. Manage budget, supplies, and equipment through performing office work. 
  13. Comply with all UPIKE, MSC, and NAIA rules and regulations.
  14. Assist with all practices and games for the women’s volleyball team.
  15. Assist in skill development and conditioning.
  16. Assist with strategy during games.
  17. Other duties as assigned.   

Relationships:

Position requires daily contact with athletic director, coaches, supervisor, athletes, parents, alumni, various campus departments, and the general public in order to communicate information about the athletics department. These relationships are maintained through e-mail, telephone, and person-to-person contact.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 4 years of related experience required (equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered).
  • Volleyball coaching or playing experience at the high school or college level.
  • Experience recruiting, good interpersonal communication and organization skills.
  • Must be familiar Microsoft Office, (Word, Excel ,PowerPoint, Outlook, Etc.)
  • Must have experience working with office equipment, e.g. computer, printer, fax machine.
  • Must be able to perform simple calculations.
