Assistant/Associate Professor of Social Work

The University of Pikeville is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor of Social Work. The position is a 12-month appointment in a new online MSW program. The position reports directly to the Director of the MSW program and includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

  1. Faculty responsibilities include teaching a full load of 12 credit hours per semester, participating in student recruitment and advising, scholarship, and participating in university and program governance.
  2. Ability to teach across the curricula of the undergraduate and graduate programs.
  3. Work collaboratively with program administrators to develop and implement evaluation and assessment related to student and program outcomes.
  4. Representing the MSW program on the Social Work Committee and in admission decisions.
  5. Maintain compliance with program competencies, policies, and procedures, as well as the CSWE accreditation standards for field education.

Relationships:

Position requires daily contact with co-workers, supervisor, students, faculty, and staff in order to disseminate necessary information and coordinate for daily operations. These relationships are maintained through person-to-person contact, phone, e-mail, and fax. 

Required Qualifications:

  • A doctorate and an MSW from a CSWE accredited social work program are required.
  • Preferred candidate will hold a certification/license in social work in Kentucky.
  • A minimum of two years post MSW practice experience.
  • A minimum of two-three years of experience teaching in a CSWE accredited program, with at least one year of experience teaching in a graduate program preferred.
  • Knowledge of CSWE Accreditation Standards and process is preferred.
  • Must demonstrate a record of highly successful teaching (preferably including online and hybrid teaching), as well as scholarship, and university service.
  • Must be able to work independently but also be an active member of a team.
  • Documented ability to develop courses (preferably online).
  • Demonstrated competence with online pedagogies.
  • Demonstrated congruence with the mission of the University of Pikeville and the School of Social Work.
