Clinical Didactic Curriculum Coordinator

The University of Pikeville and Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine (KYCOM) is seeking a Clinical Didactic Curriculum Coordinator. The primary role of the Clinical Didactic Curriculum Coordinator is to provide key curriculum leadership by working closely with the Associate Dean for Osteopathic Medical Education and other faculty to establish the goals, objectives, and methods for the development and implementation of the clinical didactic curriculum in order to incorporate feedback from multiple sources, and to support clinical didactic curricular innovation and improvement.

Responsibilities:

  1. With the oversight of the Associate Dean for Osteopathic Medical Education, design, plan and implement all aspects of the clinical didactic curriculum for Years 1 and 2 at KYCOM. 
    1. Scheduling of all clinical didactic courses and development of each course evaluative material for utilization on examination protocols (e.g. Test Block Examinations).
    2. Recruitment of clinical didactic faculty to meet the needs of the curriculum.
    3. Coordination of all clinical didactic faculty remuneration.
  2. Coordinate and communicate with all basic science and clinical science faculty across continuum of the clinical didactic courses.
  3. Coordinate with the KYCOM Assessment and Evaluation Coordinator in the development of all assessment instruments associated with the clinical didactic curriculum.
  4. Collaborate with others within the KYCOM administration and faculty in the evaluation process by which courses are developed and implemented.
  5. Coordinate with the KYCOM Academic Success Coordinator and the UPIKE Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness in all evaluative methodologies pertaining to clinical didactic courses in faculty and student performance.
  6. Collaborate with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in the overall outcomes’ measurement of the clinical didactic curriculum to act as a feedback mechanism for curriculum improvement.
  7. Act as liaison with administration and faculty to insure a robust integration between clinical didactic and basic science courses.
  8. With administrative supervision, responsible for budgetary oversight and planning associated with the UPIKE budget within Osteopathic Clinical Education.
  9. Interact and support KYCOM professional needs including but not exclusive to continuing medical education (CME), interprofessional education (IPE), Information Technology (IT), and Faculty Development.
  10. Participate in KYCOM committees which relate to clinical didactic education, including but not exclusive to Clinical Science Committee, and Exam Review. 

Relationships: 

Position requires daily contact with administrators, faculty, staff, students, campus departments, adjunct clinical faculty, and hospital staff in order to perform duties and responsibilities. These relationships are maintained through e-mail, telephone, written and person-to-person contact. 

Education/Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • At least three years’ experience in a formal education department, business, hospital or professional office is preferred.  
  • Must have an extensive experience with software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, as well as Adobe Acrobat Pro and Drop Box.
  • Must have a working knowledge of Canvas.
  • Should have a working knowledge of distance learning programs such as Zoom, Skype, Adobe Connect Pro and Google Group Connector.
  • Must have experience in medical education.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate ability to multi-task, prioritize, meet deadlines, and have the capacity to exercise good judgment.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
