Description: | The University of Pikeville in Pikeville, Kentucky seeks a dynamic and creative Strength and Conditioning Coach. This position is responsible for establishing and maintaining a strength and conditioning programs for all sports, with the three major goals of improving athletic performance, reducing athletic injuries, and teaching lifelong fitness and movement skills. The Strength and Conditioning Coach devises training plans according to sound scientific principles, supervises training sessions, evaluates athletes, maintains athlete records, and supervises work study and internship students. The Strength and Conditioning Coach meets regularly with sport coaches to determine what the athletes need to focus on. If working with an injured athlete engaged in rehabilitation, the Strength and Conditioning Coach will consult with the sports medicine or athletic training staff. The Strength and Conditioning Coach is responsible for maintaining the strength and conditioning facility, and for establishing policies, plans, and procedures for the safety and professional operation of the facility. Partnering with the University of Pikeville-Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine (KYCOM) and the future College of Dental Medicine truly allows KYCO students to learn and train in an interprofessional environment. Residency training in the appropriate areas of specialty or a minimum of five years of relevant clinical experience is preferred.
