Coordinator of Intramural Sports/Graduate Assistant new

Description:

The University of Pikeville (UPIKE) is actively seeking candidates for the Coordinator of Intramural Sports, a Graduate Assistant position. The Graduate Assistant will be responsible for assisting the Center for Student Engagement personnel in developing and organizing a comprehensive intramural sport program that serves the diverse population at the University of Pikeville, including the Undergraduate and Graduate and Health Professional students.

Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee daily management and supervision of intramural sports leagues, participants, supervisors, gaming officials, and fields and play areas.
  2. Assist with the responsibilities for recruitment and hiring of student staff for the intramural sports program.
  3. Lead and oversee training sessions for the student sports official, office assistants, and supervisors.
  4. Create and coordinate schedules for leagues and student staff.
  5. Serve as professional staff for night time and weekend intramural events.
  6. Conduct performance evaluations with the intramural student sports officials.
  7. Assist in coordinating the logistics of the daily operations within the intramural sports program.
  8. Responsible for the direct supervision of the student sports officials, league coordinators and supervisors.
  9. Assist the Center for Student Engagement personnel in overseeing the planning of intramural events such as leagues and/or tournaments.
  10. Assist in the maintenance and tracking of intramural equipment and make suggestions for equipment budget allocations.
  11. Participate in the revision of the intramural policies and procedures, as well as the calendar schedule for each academic year.
  12. Track, maintain, and organize intramural participation statistics for annual reports.
  13. Adhere to daily office hours.
  14. Assist with departmental special events.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned.

Commitment:

  • Graduate Assistant has applied and accepted at the University of Pikeville, in a master’s program.
  • Graduate Assistant is expected to work 20 hours per week each semester.
  • Graduate Assistant will attend the bi-weekly department meetings.
  • Graduate Assistant will co-direct the intramural work-study students.
  • If at any time a Graduate Assistant cannot make a scheduled event or needs time off for personal reasons, they are required to notify their direct supervisor.
  • Nights and weekends are required.

Relationships:

Position requires daily contact with co-workers, students, supervisor, employees of the institution, as well as vendors in order to answer questions, place orders and make sure paperwork is completed. These relationships are maintained through e-mail, fax, telephone, and person-to-person contact.

Education/Skill Requirements:

  • Must have a minimum of bachelor’s degree in a related field (Health, Athletic Training, Sports Management, or a related field).
  • Ability to work evenings/nights and weekends.
  • Knowledge and understanding of officiating rules and principles applicable to the intramural sports provided.
  • Experience with training, supervising, and working with students for evaluation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and confidence of intramural sports and recreation activities for a diverse group set of students.

**Graduate Assistants receive tuition waivers of up to 6 hours of classes per semester, housing & a meal plan. However, if the GA does not reside on campus, then he/she will receive a monthly stipend in lieu of room & board. The meal plan covers the actual number of weeks that classes are in session during the fall, spring, and summer semesters.

The Administrative Assistant is expected to provide research and advanced clerical assistance to the Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences of the University of Pikeville by performing the following responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide clerical and administrative support for the Division Chairs and faculty in each of the College’s five academic Divisions.
  2. Screen and prioritize all communication received, establish and electronically file all related material, and assemble information for the Dean.
  3. Maintain a daily calendar and appointment scheduling for the Dean.
  4. Serve as a receptionist by answering the phone and assign calls to the proper faculty or staff recipient.
  5. Assist in program accreditation projects.
  6. Maintain correspondence documents, purchase orders, check requests, expenditure reports, and any other data as necessary.
  7. Handle all incoming and outgoing mail for the College of Arts & Sciences.
  8. Plan and prepare budget expenses for the College of Arts & Sciences.

  11. Manage and proctor the Proficiency Profile Exam (PPT) and the Major Field Assessment Tests (MFAT) for all graduating undergraduate seniors. This also includes purchasing the appropriate exams.
  12. Other duties as assigned.
  13. Properly stock and maintain organization within all three printer rooms and two supply closets within the College of Arts & Sciences.

  4. Maintain and repair event equipment.
  5. Transport equipment to and from offsite storage, as is necessary.

  9. Assists with various department and organization projects and special assignments as needed.

The University of Pikeville is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Maintenance Technician. The position is a general mechanical position responsible for maintenance and minor repair, to include but not limited to carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting and grounds on campus.

Responsibilities:

  1. Perform minor repairs and/or replacement of plumbing fixtures, valves, and other devices as required.
  2. Perform minor repairs and/or replacement of electrical fixtures, devices, and appliances as required.
  3. Perform minor carpentry work as required to repair windows, doors, hardware, screens and furniture.
  4. Observe and report, through the work order system, any and all defects, deterioration, and wear and tear on the facilities.
  5. Assist in coordinating major repairs within scheduled periods.
  6. Communication, as directed, with key administrative and staff personnel on special events and functions scheduled for campus that may require special arrangements and other duties that may be required.
  7. Inspect all campus property on a routine basis and assure that deficiencies are corrected.
  8. Assist as required and cooperate with all trades people and custodians in the performance of day to day duties and responsibilities.
  9. Assist as required and/or directed with snow plowing, snow and ice removal, and lawn and shrubbery care around campus.
  10. Other duties as assigned.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a motivated and accomplished professional to join a progressive student success team. Under direction of the Dean of Student Success, the Director of Academic Excellence is responsible for providing academic support services and programming for students with a range of academic abilities including honors level, academically at-risk, and first-generation students. This includes success strategies, learning skills, time management, and academic assistance outside the classroom for diverse students with varied schedules that includes many athletes.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide leadership direction including developing, planning, goal setting, implementation, evaluation and accountability for academic support services and programming.
  2. Supervises and coordinates academic support services such as tutoring, supplemental instruction, writing center, student success courses, and other student academic learning services outside of the classroom.
  3. Collaborate with Center of Student Success on developing and implementing programming and processes such as academic recovery, study skills, Motivational Mondays, etc.
  4. Collaborate with Admissions, Family Connections, and others to integrate and offer academic support services as part of the onboarding process for new students and continuing students.
  5. Develop and implement a tracking and assessment system for student use of all academic support services.
  6. Develop and implement regular training and workshops in conjunction with UPIKE Professional Development for faculty, administrators, staff, and work-study students.
  7. Collaborates with data management constituencies at UPIKE such as Institutional Research to provide student usage data needed for the early alert system, academic recovery systems, student success tracking and retention.
  8. Provides regular reports for assessment and planning purposes.
  9. Develops and administers the budget for all programs related to academic support services.
  10. Hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate the work performance of assigned personnel.
  11. Writes grant proposals as part of a team focused on academic success.
  12. Plan and coordinate research projects related to areas of responsibility and prepare a variety of research related reports.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Leadership and Strategy

  • Leads campus strategy development and implementation to achieve an aligned, collaborative campus career services that will provide a more consistent experience for all UPIKE students including Undergraduate, Graduate, Osteopathic, and Optometric Students.
  • Possesses understanding of current career services practices, career development theory, and recruiting trends of various industries.

The University of Pikeville (UPIKE) is actively seeking candidates for the Director of Planned Giving. This position is charged with fostering and securing planned, private financial gifts for the University. The primary responsibility is to meet or exceed annual and multi-year goals by identifying, cultivating, soliciting, securing, and stewarding prospects and donors for planned gifts.

This position is actively engaged in establishing long-term partnerships and strengthening existing relationships with alumni and supports of the University that will result in financial commitments for the benefit of the University.  

 Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Working within a comprehensive institutional advancement – plan and execute a development plan, which includes identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of planned gifts, while working independently and/or collaboratively with volunteers.
  • Meet or exceed annual fundraising goals specified for amount raised, contacts, number of successful solicitations, etc.
  • Manage a major gift prospect base of between 125 to 150 qualified major gift prospects.
  • Conduct 150+ face-to-face visits per year.
  • Execute a minimum of 30 contacts per month with at least half comprising personal, direct contact. The Advancement Director must be able to travel 35% of the time, including overnight and occasional weekends.
  • Document contacts and adhere to policies and procedures for accepting, recording and acknowledging gifts.
  • Work closely with Alumni, Advancement and Public Affairs offices to maximize the fundraising potential of the university through participation in events or meetings.
  • Perform stewardship of endowment scholarships for designated college and/or program.

Essential Functions:

Responsibilities:

  1. Faculty responsibilities include teaching a full load of 12 credit hours per semester, participating in student recruitment and advising, scholarship, and participating in university and program governance.

  3. Work collaboratively with program administrators to develop and implement evaluation and assessment related to student and program outcomes.

Required Qualifications:

  • An MSW from a CSWE accredited social work program (PhD or DSW preferred).
