Responsibilities:

  1. Recruit exceptional students for associate, bachelor’s, and master’s and medical school degree programs from high schools, community and technical colleges, colleges and universities,  businesses, industries and the community.
  2. Communicate consistently and effectively with prospective students and their families in person and via phone, email, text messaging, printed media, and the internet.
  3. Meet quantitative and qualitative departmental goals for inquiries, applications, admitted and enrolled students.
  4. Work aggressively in the community to increase public awareness of University programs, success stories and opportunities.
  5. Develop and implement recruitment strategies designed to enroll new students and identify viable readmit candidates for the University.
  6. Represent the University at career fairs, professional conferences and trade shows. 
  7. Work collaboratively with colleagues in financial aid, advising, registrar and other campus offices to ensure a consistent and smooth transition from applicant to student.
  8. Interact effectively with a diverse group of faculty, staff, administrators and the rest of the University community. 
  9. Occasional evening and weekend events/travel.
  10. Learn and use best practices of the Admissions Department and the University.
  11. Uphold the University of Pikeville Mission Statement.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Admissions.

Relationships:

Position requires daily contact with co-workers and work-study students in order to divide duties, conduct meetings, coordinate schedules, and assign jobs.  Contact with current students often occurs for counseling purposes on personal and/or school related issues.  Contact with potential students, parents, and local schools is vital in order to discuss recruitment, recruitment issues, and financial aid issues, as well as to provide a general exchange of information.

These relationships are maintained through e-mail, texting, telephone, social networking sites such as Facebook, and person-to-person contact.

Education/Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required or earned by start date.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and experience collaborating with both small/personal and large/diverse groups of people.
  • Strong organizational, communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
  • Polished presentation/public speaking skills.

Development Advisor new

Description:

The University of Pikeville (UPIKE) is actively seeking candidates for a full-time Development Advisor position in the Upward Bound program. This position is a federally funded TRIO Program and all positions are contingent upon sufficient funding. The Development Advisor is responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, and implementing programs, activities and services that promote and enhance postsecondary educational and career opportunities for the students participating in the Upward Bound project. This position will ensure the full implementation of the planned activities, services, and programs for an at-risk, high school student population from a wide geographical range of five school districts consisting of 11 separate target schools. 

Responsibilities: 

  1. Facilitating or co-facilitating the career work-study program, including leading career exploration workshops. 
  2. Facilitating or co-facilitating the bridge program, including helping high school seniors to complete financial aid and scholarship applications. 
  3. Recruiting, interviewing, and recommending new students into the program, visiting participants monthly at their schools, planning and supervising college and educational/cultural trips, planning summer activities, and hiring, training, and supervising summer staff. 
  4. Providing personal and career counseling services to high school project participants and planning and facilitating small peer-groups during the summer program. 
  5. Other related duties as assigned.

 Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in human services, education, or related field is required. 
  • Minimum of one year experience in personal, academic, or career counseling/advising is also required. 
  • Ability to identify the barriers and disadvantages faced by area youth and the ability to relate effectively to campus personnel, and local secondary school personnel and students.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the purpose and mission of the Upward Bound program. 
  • Knowledge of the day-to-day operation of the Upward Bound program.
  • Knowledge of college admissions and financial aid procedures.
  • Knowledge of barriers low-income and first-generation students face.

Assistant Sports Information Director

Description:

The University of Pikeville (UPIKE), is actively seeking candidates for an Assistant Sports Information Director. This position is responsible for the creating and maintaining of content for UPIKE athletics, producing and editing content for athletic publications, managing statistics, and promoting athletic programs. Under the supervision of the Sports Information Director, the Assistant Sports Information Director (SID) will serve as the primary contact for several UPIKE programs.

Responsibilities:

  1. Serve as the primary contact for designated programs including communication with coaches, administration, and the public.
  2. Write and publish press releases for primary sport assignments to support the communication and exposure efforts.
  3. Create a brand identity for assigned sports utilizing UPIKE Athletics branding materials.
  4. Utilize DakStats software for all home games for in-game statistical recording and dissemination to opponents, the NAIA, and MSC.
  5. Assist with production of any publications and game-day materials for all athletic programs and events.
  6. Maintain and update the Athletic Department’s social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube) with new video/photo content including, but not limited to, infographics, highlights, recaps, and other content for primary sports.
  7. Maintain and update the content of the UPIKE athletics webpage on a daily basis. Content includes, but not limited to, rosters, schedules, statistics, news, and staff directory.
  8. Assist the sports information department in coordinating live video and statistics for home games as well as troubleshooting, setting up, and breaking down of necessary equipment.
  9. Maintain all archives, which include rosters, schedules/results, photos, statistics, rankings, awards, news releases, etc.
  10. Actively pursue and execute nomination of UPIKE student-athletes for conference, regional, and national awards/recognition.
  11. Assists with all aspects of game day management, to include scoreboard operator, Public Address announcer, stats keeper, photographer, etc.
  12. Assist with special events and promotions such as Bear Awards, Hall of Fame, etc.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned by the Sports Information Director and Director of Athletics.

Relationships:

Position requires daily contact with sports information director, coaches, supervisor, athletes, parents, alumni, various campus departments, and the general public in order to communicate information about the athletics department. These relationships are maintained through e-mail, telephone, and person-to-person contact.

Education/Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years of experience in the field of sports information, journalism, or mass communications.
  • Working knowledge of rules, strategies, principles, and method of scoring for all 22 varsity sports as well as NAIA legislation.
  • Working knowledge of web site design and maintenance.
  • Experience working with Sidearm Sports is preferred.
  • Experience working with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Premiere.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-heavy environment.
  • Willing to work irregular hours, which includes nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to adapt to trends in the sport information and technology fields.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience coordinating and managing live streaming operations.
  • Knowledge and experience of branding and marketing principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to creatively brand and strategize using information in combination with new media.

A standardized patient is a person willing and trained to portray an actual patient with a specific medical history and physical exam findings for the purpose of instructing health professional students. A human model is a person willing to serve as an actual patient for physical examination training by health professional students. You are not required to do both; you may choose. 

Interested candidates for the Standardized Patient and Human Model Program should have flexible schedules, an ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism, and an interest in medicine and medical education. Standardized patients and human models are hired by KYCOM and will be paid an hourly wage for training and providing requested services. Interested individuals must be age 18 or older to apply.

The Director of Diversity leads the development and implementation of proactive diversity and equity initiatives in support of the University of Pikeville’s strategic plan to create a learning and working environment where everyone has an opportunity to succeed. The position serves within the Division of Student Success and as a member of the President’s Executive Staff. The successful candidate will champion the importance and value of a diverse and inclusive college environment. In addition, the Director of Diversity leads the development of a vision and effective strategy to create a culture for equity, diversity, and inclusion. 

Job Responsibilities

  1. Guide the university in implementing strategic diversity initiatives aimed at building a culture that supports diverse points of view. 
  2. Support data-driven recruitment and retention efforts at the institution with a focus on diverse student populations.
  3. Mentor and support diversity-oriented student groups in the Undergraduate College, Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine (KYCOM), and Kentucky College of Optometry (KYCO). 
  4. Serve as a liaison within the Athletics Department to support our diverse students. 
  5. Design and deliver learning experiences, presentations, and workshops and provide consultation and support of efforts that promote diversity and equity for individuals and groups within the University of Pikeville community.
  6. Collaborate with university stakeholders to assess potential barriers and develop strategies to recruit and retain a diverse workforce. 
  7. Collaborate with the office of the president and public relations to craft public statements regarding issues of diversity. 
  8. Collaborate with the offices of disability services, intercultural development and Title IX to assess the need for, and recommend training initiatives on, cultural competency, gender differences, disability, sexual harassment, and other topics designed to increase awareness and support of equity, values, and maintaining compliance with applicable laws.
  9. Work with Human Resources to develop and implement strategies to integrate effective diversity practices creating a more equitable and inclusive work environment.  
  10. Advise the University of Pikeville on diversity, equity, and affirmative action matters. 
  11. Lead the development, implementation, and promotion of a university diversity statement across the UPIKE campus and throughout the external community.
  12. Occasionally represent the University of Pikeville to external community, organizations, and agencies.
  13. Manage the department budget, including developing budget proposals, justifying expenses and monitoring accounts.

The successful athletic trainer is expected to perform all duties required for multiple sports teams of the University of Pikeville by carrying out the following responsibilities:   

  1. Provide coverage for athletic practice sessions and game events, both home and away.
  2. Sport coverage will be assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer.
  3. Supervise work-study and scholarship students helping in the athletic training department.
  4. Maintain athletic training rooms as needed in order to provide the best athletic training experience possible for student athletes.
  5. Perform administrative duties as needed.
  6. Other duties as assigned.

 Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Athletic Training.
  • Certified by the National Athletic Training Association - Board of Certification.
  • Must be familiar with operating modalities and sports-related equipment, e.g. estim/ultrasound machine, ice machine, whirlpool, water boys.
  • Must be self-sufficient.
  • Must have excellent communication skills.
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Must be able to perform simple calculations.

Key Functions

  • Ensure the mission of KYCOM is accomplished.
  • Lead a group of Assistant and Associate Deans in addition to serving as the leader, advocate, and change agent for KYCOM.

  • Administer the preparation of materials and documentation required for continued accreditation of the college by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) and other accrediting agencies.

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  1. Responsible for teaching in those courses and associated labs within the Department of Family Medicine and the Department of Osteopathic Principles and Practice, as assigned by the respective chairs. 
  2. Participates in and recommends curriculum development and evaluation.
  3. Assists in the preparation of course syllabi, objectives, lecture schedules, and testing procedures.
  4. Assists in the preparation of materials and documentation required for continued accreditation of the school by the American Osteopathic Association -COCA and other accrediting agencies.
  5. Actively serves on appointed KYCOM Faculty and UPIKE Committees.
  6. Provides clinical services as directed by the Department Chairs and Dean, which would be associated with family medicine and/or osteopathic manipulative medicine.
  7. Provides counseling, advising and guidance to students.

Education/Experience:

  • Must have earned a D.O. degree from an American Osteopathic Association COCA-accredited college/school of osteopathic medicine.
  • Must be eligible for and maintain an unrestricted Kentucky medical/osteopathic license and obtain that license within 180 days of initial employment.
  • Must be board certified by AOBFP and/or AOBNMM (or equivalent).
  • Current and unrestricted DEA certificate.
  • Previous research and academic/clinical experience are desirable.

  • Distribution and tracking of soccer gear.
  • Run team study hall and maintain academic progress reports.
  • Make game day preparations.
  • Travel arrangements and campus tours for recruits.
  • Assist in recruiting and retention.
  • General office duties including pickup and drop off of mail.

Requirements:

  • Must have a minimum of Bachelor’s degree and be accepted into graduate program at UPIKE.
  • NSCAA National is preferred but not required.
  • 2-4 months experience with recruiting preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience with player skill development, game planning, and practice preparation preferred.
  • Must be able to abide by the standards set by the Head Coach to maintain a high degree of trust and quality assurance.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate with all members of the College community.
  • Must have experience working with office equipment, e.g. computer, printer, fax machine, copier.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly with Word and Excel.
  • Must be able to perform simple calculations.
  • Must be familiar with creating online travel arrangements. 

**Graduate Assistants receive tuition waivers of up to 6 hours of classes per semester, housing & a meal plan. However, if the GA does not reside on campus, then he/she will receive a monthly stipend in lieu of room & board. The meal plan covers the actual number of weeks that classes are in session during the fall, spring, and summer semesters.
