Assistant or Associate Professor of Business Administration (Accounting and Finance)

The University of Pikeville (UPIKE), Coleman College of Business (CCOB), seeks qualified applicants for a full-time, non-tenure track, teaching-intensive faculty position to begin August 2022. Expected teaching load is 4/4 per year (24 credit hours). Appointment will be at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor dependent upon academic credentials and experience.

A well-qualified candidate at a rank appropriate to the credentials of the applicant must be able to teach in more than one area of accounting and finance at both undergraduate and graduate level. 

Applicants must have a strong commitment to teaching in a small university setting and the ability to work effectively with others in a collegial environment dedicated to student learning. The position also requires advising students, providing service to the college and community, assisting with program activities, and continuing professional growth and development.

Responsibilities:

  1. Teach the assigned business courses, this includes lecture notes, presentation prep, exam questions prep, and syllabus prep.
  2. Create and maintain an environment that is conducive to innovative teaching and active learning.
  3. Maintain excellence in teaching, service, and scholarship.
  4. Develop, communicate, and fulfill effective course learning outcomes.
  5. Teach courses utilizing no-cost course materials and Open Educational Resources (OERs).
  6. Participate in and recommend curriculum development and evaluation assessment.
  7. Provide educational support for students on an as-needed basis.
  8. Assume other duties as assigned by the Dean. 
  9. Represent/serve on university committees.
  10. Facilitate student experiential learning. 

Relationships:

Position requires daily contact with faculty, staff, students, and community members in order to exchange information.  These relationships are maintained through e-mail, telephone, and person-to-person contact.

Requirements:

  • Must have a Doctorate degree.
  • Must have a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the academic discipline to which you are applying.
  • Must have excellent organizational, communication, teaching and decision-making skills.
  • Prior college teaching experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience using CANVAS and/or other web-based learning platform preferred.
  • Experience with Open Educational Resources (OERs).
