The University of Pikeville is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Plumber. The position will assist in the maintenance and journeymen level repairs to all campus plumbing systems within the University of Pikeville facilities.


  1. Maintain, repair, replace, and install plumbing components including pipe, fittings, valves, appliances, fixtures, and associated hardware.
  2. Completes skilled plumbing constructions, remodels, demolitions, and repairs according to established trade standards and applicable building, plumbing, and safety codes.
  3. Diagnose problems, consider alternative solutions, and select and implement the most effective solution without close supervision.
  4. Assist with general maintenance repairs and perform preventative maintenance tasks as directed.
  5. Assist in the maintenance of campus grounds, including painting, pressure washing, etc.
  6. Provide support for events held on campus by clubs, organizations, committees, etc.
  7. Maintains records and reports of work status and completion according to established deadlines and expectations.
  8. Other duties as assigned.


Position requires continuous contact with co-workers, supervisor, staff, and students in order to communicate the needs of the campus and direct maintenance. Relationships are typically maintained through daily person-to-person contact and work orders.

 Education/Skill Requirements:

  • High school diploma (or equivalent) and four years of appropriate experience in plumbing related work is required.
  • Possession of a journeyman or master plumber's license is required.
  • General working knowledge of plumbing distribution and mechanical codes is required.
  • General mechanical skills and some electrical experience is required.
  • Requires the ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
