Head Archery Coach

The University of Pikeville (UPIKE), the Leading University in Central Appalachia is actively seeking candidates for the Head Archery Coach to manage and oversee all aspects of the archery program by performing the following responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

  1. Recruit and retain student athletes.
  2. Conduct and plan all practices and matches for the archery team.
  3. Schedule all competitive events.
  4. Manage skill development and conditioning.
  5. Manage and maintain archery equipment and uniforms.
  6. Fundraise for the team’s budget and equipment.
  7. Monitor academic process of student athletes.
  8. Oversee Assistant Coach, volunteers, and work study students.
  9. Manage budget, supplies, equipment and inventory.
  10. Follow purchasing and spending guidelines as set by the university and the Athletics Department.
  11. Maintain receipts and reconcile department credit card monthly.
  12. Organize travel, accommodations, and team meals.
  13. Ensure the health and safety of athletes and staff.
  14. Schedule events for team community service.
  15. Other duties as assigned.

Education/Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s Degree is preferred.
  • Collegiate or high school archery coaching experience required.
  • Ability to organize and manage a college archery team.
  • Instructor certification preferred.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Must be able to perform simple calculations.
  • Must be familiar with ordering office supply and making travel arrangements online. 

Relationships:

Position requires daily contact with athletes, parents, faculty, staff, student workers, coaches, and community members in order to exchange information. These relationships are maintained through e-mail, telephone, and person-to-person contact.
