IWS - KYCOM - Graduate Student Tutor - Summer/Fall/Spring 24-25
KYCOM Student Tutor responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Responsibilities:
1. Provide individual tutoring sessions in approved subjects 2. Serve as a guide to facilitate learning; and assist students in becoming more successful, independent learners. 3. Participate in the improvement of students' ability to master concepts and applications of specific courses per the course director and tutoring students in specific course material and integrating effective study and learning strategies to promote success in the course. 4. Assist students in identifying and incorporating effective study/learning strategies to help maximize students' potential for academic success and encourage students to develop a systematic approach to studying that will serve them well in all courses. 5. Use effective, respectful, and positive communication skills appropriate for diverse students, faculty, and staff. 6. Maintain regular, ongoing and consistent communication with Tutoring Supervisor to plan academic support strategies for students. 7. Abide by FERPA regulations at all times. Student Tutors will be expected to keep all student matters confidential. 8. Must demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly and effectively. 9. Must demonstrate organized note-taking skills. 10. Ability to quickly establish positive relationships with diverse students, faculty, and staff. 11. Participate in professional development as offered.
Relationships: Position requires daily contact with co-workers, supervisor, students, faculty, and staff in order to disseminate necessary information and coordinate for daily operations. These relationships are maintained through person-to-person contact, phone, e-mail, and fax.
Education/Skill Requirements: • Must be a current KYCOM student and have a minimum grade of 'B ' in the course for which they are tutoring.
NACE Career Competencies:
Rate of pay is $15.00/hour
Work Conditions: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job: • Work is performed inside under normal office/study room conditions.
