FWS - Bio - BioMedSci Asst Cancer Research/TA FWSCASBIOASTCR- Fall/Spring 24/25

Responsibilities:

  1. Using the Cryostat, section all human cancer tissues (C, TW, CT, T)
  2. Create/manufacture gel-coated slides (C, TW)
  3. Mix and prepare all staining compounds (C, TW, CT, T)
  4. Wash and clean all lab materials and equipment for OSHA compliance (C, TW)
  5. Pick up cancer tissue when they become available at PMC (C, TW)
  6. Perform hematoxylin and eosin staining all human cancer tissue (C, TW, CT, T)
  7. Perform immunohistochemistry on all cancer tissues (C, TW, CT, T)
  8. Use a confocal microscope under my supervision (C, P, CSD, TW, CT, T)
  9. Search, print, and read all literature information regarding the type of cancer (C, TW, CT, T)
  10. Help write the peer review publication(s) (C, TW, CT, T)
  11. Help supervise A&P and histology labs (C, P, CSD, TW, CT, T)
  12. Assist with and contribute to events hosted by the department professional staff (C, TW, P)
  13. Contribute to group and individual projects that benefit the office/department, such as gathering and analyzing data, social media and website development, resource development, internal development and education and budgeting (CT, C, TW, T)
  14. Work independently and efficiently; use available resources to direct guests (CT,P)

Work Schedule:  Depending on their class schedule, the students will be working   on weekdays and only the occasional weekend if there is a time-sensitive project to be completed.
