Graduate Assistant - Track & Field

The University of Pikeville (UPIKE) is actively seeking candidates for its Graduate Assistant for Track & Field. The central focus for the Graduate Assistant is to provide assistance and support to the Head Track & Field Coach and the track & field program at the University of Pikeville.

Responsibilities:

  1.  Assist and be proactive in the recruitment process of student athletes
  2. Participate in coaches’ meetings for practice prep and game planning
  3. Coach an event group with minimal supervision
  4. Assist with all practices and meets for the track & field team
  5. Assist in all community service planning and implementation
  6. Upload video and assist in analyzing athlete performance through video
  7. Assist with fundraising for the team’s budget and facilities
  8. Assist with budget management, supplies, and equipment through performing office work
  9. Assist with all aspects of track & field operations including but not limited to (travel, purchasing including gear and equipment)
  10. Assist with all camps including marketing, organization, and operations
  11. Assist with all event groups
  12. Monitor academic progress of individuals who are part of the track & field program
  13. Attend and travel to high school competitions for recruiting
  14. Drive university vehicles (when necessary)
  15. Other duties as assigned

Education/Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Athletic background preferred
  • At least 1-2 years of assistant coaching experience
  • Must be familiar with conducting research online
  • Must be familiar Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Must have experience working with office equipment, e.g. computer, printer, fax machine
  • Must be able to perform simple calculations
  • Must have a clean driving record

**Graduate Assistants receive tuition waivers of up to 6 hours of classes per semester, housing & a meal plan. However, if the GA does not reside on campus, then he/she will receive a monthly stipend in lieu of room & board. The meal plan covers the actual number of weeks that classes are in session during the fall, spring, and summer semesters.
