Part-time Assistant Coach-Cheerleading

The University of Pikeville is currently seeking a part-time Assistant Cheerleading Coach to assist the Head Coach with the overall operations of the Cheer program, in accordance with University of Pikeville, Mid-South Conference, and NAIA regulations. The Assistant Coach must have a commitment to providing a competitive cheer program that emphasizes integrity and the educational welfare of its student-athletes.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Assisting in skill development and conditioning of student athletes.
  2. Contribute to game planning strategies.
  3. Communicate effectively with student athletes.
  4. Monitor and track academic performance of student athletes.
  5. Assist in camps, clinics for fundraising, and community service activities.
  6. Emphasize integrity and educational welfare for student athletes.
  7. Comply with all UPIKE, MSC, and NAIA rules and regulations.

Relationships:

Position requires daily contact with co-workers, supervisors, student athletes, prospective student athletes, parents, and the general public in order to monitor players, give/receive information and feedback, schedule/coordinate games and practices, and direct workflow.

These relationships are maintained through e-mail, telephone, written communication, and person-to-person contact.

Education/Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum one to two years with specific cheer related experience is required.
  • Previous coaching experience at various levels or cheering experience in high school or collegiate level.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and organization skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Must have a criminal background check and three references.
