Coordinator of Supplemental Instruction

The University of Pikeville currently seeks a Coordinator of Supplemental Instruction who is responsible for assisting the director in managing the Supplemental Instruction (SI) operations for the Center for Academic Excellence. The Coordinator is responsible for developing SI, identifying resources for learning support and providing outreach to the university community. The coordinator will work in direct collaboration with the director to create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment for all students at the University of Pikeville.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assists the director in the coordination of recruiting, hiring, and evaluating of supplemental instructors.
  2. Coordinates online, asynchronous, and face-to-face supplemental instruction.
  3. Responsible for monitoring budgets for SI based upon student needs.
  4. Collaborates with academic colleges and student affairs to design, execute, and evaluate SI.
  5. Assists with outreach, GROWL, orientation, potential student events, and marketing materials to promote SI.
  6. Oversees supplemental research initiatives and coordinates conference travel.
  7. Assists students and faculty with customer service issues and provides solutions.
  8. Creates and assess initiatives as they pertain to student success and how it will help various committees on campus.
  9. Assists in the creation and assessment of seminars and workshops for student success.
  10. Provides additional SI coverage as needed according to demand.
  11. Monitor website and content and recommends changes and updates.
  12. Assists management of the Center for Academic Excellence student intake process.
  13. Assists with overseeing the Center for Academic Excellence, in absence of the director.
  14. Maintain proper social media engagement and marketing materials.
  15. Maintain Canvas resource page for all students – including the creation of materials for that page.
  16. Support and help maintain the training and evaluation of the supplemental instructors.
  17. Perform other duties as assigned.

Relationships:

Position requires daily contact with co-workers, supervisor, students, faculty, and staff in order to effectively coordinate the SI program. These relationships are maintained through e-mail, fax, telephone, and person-to-person contact.

Education/Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Must be student oriented and have a compassionate nature with the ability to be empathetic to student needs.
  • One year of experience in a student services role is preferred.
  • Experience with helping at-risk students in a university environment is preferred
  • Knowledge and experience with student service factors in higher education.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, collaborative environment.
  • Ability to creatively solve student issues in a timely manner.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and a clear driving record with the ability to drive a 12-passenger van as permitted by the university.
